Lleyton, an extremely talented young up-and-comer for the club and a hugely popular young man in the community, was tragically killed in a car accident in 2018.

The Great Lakes Dolphins and the Blissett family initiated a memorial trophy in his honour, which is played for at a certain match each season.

With the welcome return of rain last weekend and a total washout of all matches, club treasurer and secretary, Cath McPherson, showed great initiative to knock together a special intra-club event.

With the support of the Blissett Family, Dolphins' players and Mick Steinmetz and Vicki Berg of Stinger Sports, who have been excellent supporters of the club in training and practice provision this season, Cathy quickly cobbled together a beautiful afternoon at the indoor centre.

With senior players Sam Hull and Blake Clark taking on captain/coach roles and selecting squads from attending players, the two sides battled it out in a modified game of indoor cricket.

Much fun and laughter, lots of ribbing, the occasional piece of brilliant cricket and some dreadful play by a few still trying to impress selectors, saw a very successful day had by all.

Members of the Blissett family - Warren, Belinda and Lleyton's talented brother, Landon - all enjoyed the day and were thrilled it could go ahead.

They were very appreciative of Cath's efforts and the club looks forward to building on the tradition of holding the memorial match each year.

The Dolphins wish all clubs the best for the remaining matches of the season, and although nature - with drought, bushfires and rain - has taken its toll on the season, the club's players are thankful they are still here to enjoy the opportunity to play the game they love and live in our beautiful part of the world and that they can keep on trying to do their best as they remember their past team mate.
