Victoria has been spared devastating storms that lashed NSW, with warnings of a drenching cancelled in the state's bushfire-ravaged east.

A severe weather alert for heavy rainfall was cancelled on Monday afternoon after up to 60mm had been expected to soak East Gippsland, the Bureau of Meteorology said.
"There have been pockets of heavier rain but we thought it would keep going into this afternoon," senior forecaster Dean Stewart told AAP.
"It seems to have eased over southern NSW and we are not getting it into Victoria as much. That's the reason we are cancelling the warning."
Mt Delegate, on the NSW border, has recorded 18mm of rain since 9am after 26mm fell in the previous 24 hours, while fire-ravaged Mallacoota has had 10mm rainfall on Monday.
Over the NSW border, 133mm has been recorded in Mount Darragh in the past 24 hours.
While the rain did not douse Victoria, it has boosted spirits on the fire ground.
"The damper weather not only gives crews some temporary relief, but also helps out forest recovery and regeneration in the burned areas," the Department of Water, Land and Planning's Gippsland office said on social media.
The State Emergency Service had 288 requests for assistance in the past 24 hours to 2.10pm on Monday, with only 84 of those in the past 12 hours.
Emergency crews had been on standby to clean up and remove any hazards from the roads, with machinery deployed in fire-ravaged areas including Orbost and Genoa.
Storms and showers are expected throughout most of Victoria until Saturday.
