If so, now is the time to nominate them for a Mid Coast Australia Day Award.
It may be an individual or community group who has gone above and beyond to support others during the recent bushfires, someone who works tirelessly to improve the region, an event that brings the community together and attracts visitors from outside the Mid Coast, or someone who's sporting or volunteering achievements deserve to be celebrated.
These are the people and community groups who make the Mid Coast LGA a better place to live, work and play.
Nominations are open across six categories, closing January 8, 2020:
- Citizen of the Year
- Young Citizen of the Year
- Activity / Event of the Year
- Sportsperson of the Year
- Volunteer of the Year
- Cultural Award

"For the first time, we're celebrating Australia Day as a consolidated region-wide ceremony, recognising our local heroes from across the entire MidCoast," spokesperson from MidCoast Council said.
"The awards and citizenship ceremony will be held in as part of the renowned Saltwater Freshwater Festival in Lake Street Forster, making it bigger and more exciting than ever before.
"We look forward to seeing you on Australia Day."
