Second-half goals from Caglar Soyuncu and Jamie Vardy on Sunday lifted Leicester above Chelsea and gave them just a second win in seven visits to Selhurst Park.
"It was a big result," Vardy told Sky Sports.
"We knew it was going to be tough, we've struggled here in the past.
"To get the three points and a clean sheet, we're just over the moon."
After thrashing Southampton 9-0 last week, Leicester had to work a bit harder.
A tight first half saw Vardy denied by Vicente Guaita and Kasper Schmeichel tipping Jeffrey Schlupp's shot over the bar at the other end.
The visitors finally broke through in the 57th minute when Soyuncu was left alone to head home James Maddison's corner.
Vardy then settled things with his league-leading 10th goal two minutes from time and Ben Chilwell was denied a third by the post in stoppage time.
"It's hard to stand here with a loss," Palace defender Patrick van Aanholt said.
"I think we defended well but we conceded from a corner which is disappointing.
"When we were 1-0 down we knew we had time to get back in the game but unfortunately we let another in."
Leicester go above Chelsea on goal difference with both on 23 points, two behind champions Manchester City and eight back of leaders Liverpool.
They are also six points clear of Arsenal, Leicester's next opponent, in the battle for the top four and Champions League qualification.
Palace, who had won their last four against Leicester, remain ninth.
