That's the sentiment of Wards River Fire Brigade captain John Yeark as hundreds of firefighters continue to battle blazes in the Great Lakes and Manning.
Bushfires at Darawank and Minimbah continue to edge close together, a scenario which would be unfavourable for firefighters.
John said a change in weather was desperately needed to help bring the fires under control.
"It's only going to get bigger," John said.
"Fire is jumping around the place due to the wind."
The last eight days has been a blur for John.
He started out at the Minimbah fire last Monday and has attended to numerous fires elsewhere.
The Darawank fire is not under control and has burnt more than 2690 hectares while the Minimbah fire has burnt more than 3325 hectares and is being controlled.
All roads in the area are now open with conditions somewhat eased across the fire ground overnight (October 27).
Residents are urged to heed advice from firefighters in the area and follow bushfire survival plans.
