I heard the vicious collision of two monstrous cars.
I ran over to the smashed cars trying to see if I could help. I looked at the back seat of one of the cars. I looked closely, and I could see a little boy crying in fear, screaming in pain and yelling for his dad.
I whispered to him 'It will be okay, we will get your dad, it is going to be okay.'
I tried to pick him up and pull him to safety but then I noticed that his leg was trapped.
The next minute or so I heard faint sirens, they were getting closer and closer until the ambulance pulled up next to the damaged cars. The paramedics raced out of the ambulance with a stretcher and a first aid kit.
Then I felt someone grab my shoulder. I turned around and saw one of the paramedics. He asked 'What is your name young lady?'
I didn't reply. I didn't know what was happening. I paused for a second, all I could hear and see is the boy screaming for his dad. I started walking away from the accident puzzled and confused about what had just happened just before my eyes.
I got to my apartment and fell into bed. That night I couldn't fall asleep. My eyes were open most of the night.
I eventually fell asleep at about 1.00am in the morning. That night while I was sleeping, I had horrific nightmares. I could hear and see the little boy crying and screaming for his dad.

In the morning I woke up to the smiling sun shining in my face. I got out of bed and made myself a warm wakening cup of coffee. Then I got changed and headed out to work.
When I got to the traffic lights it reminded me of the crash. The road was closed, and the cars were still there. I walked towards the cars. I looked closely inside one the cars and I could see a shoe. It was a little red shoe. I picked it up and noticed it was the little boy's shoe.
I quickly ran as fast as I could to the hospital. About ten fast minutes went past and I finally got to the children's hospital.
I walked inside the squeaky, clean room full of people with casts and wheel chairs with them. I went to the front desk and asked if a little boy aged around 3-4 and his father had come into this hospital after a car crash.
She told me that if your looking for them they would be in room 32. I ran down the hallway and found myself standing in front of room 32.
I slowly walked into the room. I could see the little boy and his father lying in a hospital bed.
I asked the little boy 'Is this your shoe?'
He replied saying 'How do you have it?'
I said nothing I just placed it down on his bed and started walking out the door. Then the father tapped my back and whispered, 'That was the last thing his mother gave to him before she tragically passed away in a car crash.'
I nodded my head and whispered to both the boy and the father 'I'm so sorry.'
I walked out of room 32 thinking about what the boy and his father's life would be like without a mum to love you and to take care of you.
For the next couple of weeks, I visited them and bought them a vase of freshly cut flowers.
About a month later I was just cleaning my apartment when someone knocked on my door. I ran to the door and answered it.
It was the little boy and his father. The boy handed me a card. The card read 'Thankyou for saving me and my father.'
I looked at both of them and said 'Thank you.'
