Held as a part of Education Week, the assembly was conducted by the Great Lakes Learning Community and recognised the top academic achievers from each public school across the Great Lakes in the first semester of 2019.
Close to 150 students - from Bungwahl, Pacific Palms, Forster, Tuncurry, Nabiac and Hallidays Point public schools, as well all three campuses of Great Lakes College - were presented with awards for academic excellence.
Great Lakes College Forster Campus principal, Jennifer Miggins, said the day was all about recognising the value public education upholds in the community.
"Today's GLLC academic assembly was a celebration of student achievement across the NSW Public Education schools within the Great Lakes," she said.
"The assembly also highlighted the commitment of the GLLC principals and schools through working collaboratively towards high educational standards with enrichment and extension opportunities for all students to be successful global citizens."
