Organised by Myall Lakes MP Stephen Bromhead, the awards seek to recognise and celebrate the important contributions made by individuals and groups across the community.
"There are quiet achievers across our community who contribute to our towns and villages by giving their time to sports clubs, charities, churches, veterans' groups, surf clubs and volunteer organisations," Mr Bromhead said.
"Across the state, more than 2.1 million people volunteer, contributing a combined 240 million hours of their time to causes close to their heart. That's the equivalent of six million full-time working weeks."
Individuals and groups can be nominated in one of the following seven categories:
- Citizen of the Year
- Young Person of the Year
- Senior Person of the Year
- Junior Sports Person of the Year
- Sports Person of the Year
- Community Group of the Year
- Cultural Award of the Year
Nominations close on Friday, October 11, with winners announced at an awards ceremony at the Tuncurry Beach Bowling Club on Saturday, October 26.
