The new signs are operating in Forster, Tea Gardens, North Arm Cove, Wauchope, Wingham and Bulahdelah.
Rural Fire Service district officer for the Mid North Coast, Stuart Robb, said the electronic signs would bring a number of advantages.
"In the old days it was a manual sign," he said.
"Now they're all hooked up to a feeder network. The advantage of this is we can change the rating simultaneously across the region."
Mr Robb said the RFS could also display specific warning messages on the signs, which would further help them communicate the risk of fire danger to the public.
He said there were plans to install more electronic signs in the future.
"It's a considerable investment," he said.
"We'd like to continue rolling more out and as we obtain funding we'll look to do that."
The Forster electronic fire danger rating sign is located on The Lakes Way near Green Point.
