Junior horse riders are heading into the region for the annual Glowalman junior campdraft and sporting championships.
The annual event takes place every year during the second week of the July school holidays across three venues in the Mid Coast region; Gloucester, Nabiac and Wingham.
Kicking off on Tuesday, July 16 is round one at the Nabiac Showground with registered riders from ages 8-21 years taking part in the day-long event.
After a half-day's rest, competitors will be back in the ring on Wednesday, July 17 for round two from noon at the Wingham Showground, continuing across the full day on Thursday, July 18.
Rounding out the event, is the final competition at Gloucester Showground from 1pm on Friday, July 19 and continuing throughout Saturday, July 20.
Along with the campdraft competition, there will also be a range of sporting events including, flag, bend, barrel, bonfield bounce, ben bar aft and stockrider.
Following the completion of events at Gloucester, an award ceremony will be held.
Each year the order of events changes to ensure that each showground gets a chance to hold the final ceremony.
Two competitors will be chosen to represent NSW in a Western Australian competition later in the year.
Event organiser Kelvin Gregory said the riders were chosen based on their attitude and participation in the sport and not based on their results with the winners announced on the Saturday after the competition has been completed.
Riders from all over the country are expected to attend with points earned going toward their Australian Bushmen's Campdraft and Rodeo Association (ABCRA) ranking.
Prior to the championships, many riders will be taking part in the ABCRA Youth Camp run by the Bison Campdraft school and training taking place at the Gloucester Showground on Saturday, July 13 and Sunday, July 14.
The name 'Glowalman' is a combination of Gloucester, Wallamba and the Manning Valley - the three areas in which the event takes place.
The event is jointly organised by Gloucester Junior Rodeo, Nabiac Junior Rodeo and Wingham Junior Rodeo.
