These vehicles enable freedom and independence for people who have limited mobility
However, it is important drivers know how to select, use and operate them safely.
With that in mind, and as part of its community service program, MidCoast Council is hosting a free Scoot Aware workshop in Forster for users of motorised mobility scooters to provide information and ensure that safety comes first.
"This is the first in a series of workshops that will roll out across the Mid Coast in future," MidCoast Council road safety officer, Chris Dimarco said.

"Using a scooter safely is a skill and the workshop will cover how to choose, use and maintain a mobility scooter, along with your rights and responsibilities as a scooter user."
Motorised mobility scooters don't need to be registered and you don't need a licence to ride one - making it even more important to learn how to use one safely.
The first free Scoot Aware workshop will take place at the Forster Council Chambers, Breese Parade, on Thursday, June 13 from 10.30am, with light refreshments provided.
Bookings are not required, feel free to come along, enjoy a cuppa and ensure you are really going places - safely and with confidence.
