At last week's well attended council community conversation session in Tea Gardens, the issue was clearly identified as a priority for the area.
During the meeting MidCoast Council community spaces and services director, Paul De Szell, gave a commitment to the community that a feasibility study would be done to determine options and costings for a hydrotherapy pool.
"Preparation of a feasibility study is the first step in a process that will hopefully see a hydrotherapy pool built in Tea Gardens," Mr De Szell said
"We gave a commitment that if it was identified as a community priority during our discussions we would investigate the proposal," he said.
Mr De Szell said there was not a firm timeline on how long this study would take and explained any decision to invest what would be significant funds into the project would have to be a decision of the elected councillors.
"What we can do at this stage is to prepare a feasibility study, look at the indicative costs, and then take it to the elected council to determine if there is a desire to progress the project."
