April has been a month of firsts and successes for the Great Lakes Art Society.
It was the opening of the 37th Annual Open Art Exhibition and the launch of the recently renovated art gallery, funded by the State government.

Member for Myall Lakes, Stephen Bromhead was on hand to cut the ribbon and officially declare the revamped premises open for business.
Noeline Millar's miniature painting, The Luncheon - depicting two women sitting at a table with a gently light streaming in from the window behind - won the exhibition's major award.
The judges, Vicki White and Eric Lbbecke, entertained the crowd with the announcements of the winners and comments on why they chose to award particular works, president, Bettina Digby said.
The judges felt it beautifully depicted the idea of two old friends comfortable in each other's company, Ms Digby said.
"Its the first time in many years that the guest judges have chosen a miniature for the overall prize."
The exhibition is open until this Sunday, April 28 and all works are for sale.
