Their AGM was held at The Pacific Palms Recreation club where members caught up socially after the Christmas break and a full committee was sworn in.
They also had the pleasure of the company of national councillor, Chris Manger, and zone councillor, Judy Hemmingway.
President Julie Henry gave her 2018 report and outlined the successful year had by the club, which included meetings, guest speakers, fundraising and social events along with attendance at zone view events.
She emphasised that the View Club had had another great year and continued to support the Smith Family in many ways.
Many thanks went to the committee members who supported the club in 2018 and to all members.
Being the smallest and youngest club in Zone NK01, they were very proud of the Pacific Palms View Club fundraising which supported two senior Learning for Life students and also donated to The Smith Family.
Some members also involved themselves voluntarily with the local Pacific Palms School with their breakfast and reading programs, which were enjoyed by both students and members.
The View Club's fundraising last year included a garage sale, book fair, Christmas in July, Christmas hampers in November and local raffles.
Highlights of some of the 2018 meetings included:
A wonderful 23rd birthday evening at Kembali. This was Topaz themed and saw three members of 23 years, Narelle, Helen and Laurel, present 10 year badges to five members Tina, Helen, Robyn, Kelly and Julie.
The May dinner at the Recky had Felicity Carter speak about the Women’s Shelter. Felicity was very enlightening and members generously donated goods for the shelter, as well as $200 to the Smith Family.
Christmas in July at the Recky was a fantastic night raising $480. Everyone brought goodies to be raffled and local community shops donated gifts and vouchers for various services.
August was again at the Recky with guest speaker Fiona Minet, stroke co-ordinator for the Manning area. Fiona was a wonderful speaker with a lot of knowledge and responsibility in her position.
November was the last meeting for 2018 and the theme was Christmas. 16 members attended and with Christmas hampers donated by the group raffled off, they raised enough money to have sufficient funds for two senior students.
All members birthdays throughout the year were acknowledged with gifts happily donated from our generous members.
Committee for 2019 is President, Julie Henry; Assistant President, Narelle Bryant; Secretary, Tina Maasland; Assistant Secretary, Robin Rowe; Delegate, Jane Beavis; Treasurer, Sue Williams; Assistant Treasurer, Elana Knight; Publicity, Lorraine Wafer; Program Officer, Janene Ridhalgh.
The View Club's next meeting will be their 24th birthday celebration on Wednesday, March 27. It will be held at Spice Monkey in Forster. The theme is varied but the decision was made that everyone would bring or wear lavender or amethyst.
