On January 25, Lions Alan and Del Bailey, along with 13 members of Forster Tuncurry Lions Club, prepared, cooked, and served the residents at Estia Health Aged Care Tuncurry, to help them celebrate Australia Day. A local pianist got a sign-a-long going before lunch, then in good spirits about 80, along with some of their relatives, attended our barbecue.

Efforts by Lions, helping those who could not serve themselves, were appreciated by residents and staff. Mingling while the residents enjoyed their lunch, our members were thanked and complimented for their time and efforts. A fabulous public relations event by Forster Tuncurry Lions proved a terrific success for Estia and our club.
A special thanks to Lion John Monk dressed in his red, white and blue hat, bowtie and sunglasses to hand out donated Aussie flags for the residents.
After the lunch, the residents finished the day with the famous thong toss and an ugly t-shirt competition.
Words of appreciation from Aaron Dodds, lifestyle coordinator at Estia Health, were fulfilling, knowing our club volunteers had played a part in making the day enjoyable for all involved.
