Three was Nash’s lucky number at the December 14-19 event, held the Sydney Olympic Pool.
He competed in three events swimming, swum three personal best (PB) times, qualified for three national events and swum in three finals.
Coach Pete Sanders described Nash’s bronze swim as ‘very tactical’.
“Nash's final event was the 200m individual medley where he pulled off an amazing swim finishing fifth and recorded a six second PB in the process,” he said.
He missed a medal place by 1.79.seconds.
“Nash is improving every time he swims at the Sydney Olympic Pool and he is making it a habit of winning medals at every carnival he has competed at Homebush in the last 12 months.
“Nash, who is still growing currently standing six foot one, has a lot improvement to come.”
He was described as a dedicated trainer.
“If he is not in the pool at the YMCA, you will find him in the gym.
Nash paid tribute to his two coaches, Peter Sanders and Adele Gregory, who he described as outstanding.
Nash will now head to NSW Country Long Course in February, being held at the Sydney Olympic Pool, where he is predicted to be genuine contender in what ever races he contests.
Then, in April Nash will head to Adelaide to compete in the Australian Age Swimming Long Course Championship with team-mates who also qualified.
Seventeen-year-old Claire Van Kampen was placed 10th in the 100m backstroke finals, along with 17-year-old Dane Jeffrey who also swum to a 10th in the 100m breast-stroke.
Also from Forster, Emily Ranger and Emily Rowell swum especially well.
A special mention to men's 15-year-old Bevan Smith from Taree Torpedoes who swum in the backstroke finals with a seventh placing in both the 100m and 200m qualifying for Nationals as well.
