Life membership was bestowed upon Claire after nominations from both vice-presidents of Club Forster, Colin Cross and Darcy Cheetham.
In his submission outlining Claire’s nomination, Col Cross described her outstanding and meritorious service to the club and the club industry in general.
“Claire Fletcher joined Forster Tuncurry Memorial Services Club on January 16,1991.
“She was elected to the board of directors on Feburary 19, 2008 and continues to hold office after 10 years.
During this period, she has held the positions of vice-president for three years and president
for five years.
“During her presidency, the club has experienced record growth and profits.
“This has been achieved through high standards of governance, due diligence, strategic thinking and direction.
“Claire values education and encourages her fellow directors to attend industry meetings, workshops and seminars.
“She respects the club’s good reputation, objective, mission and true values.
“She also sees the ‘big picture’ and shares this openly with her board colleagues and members.
“She always endeavours to do what is right and fair.
“She has been an active member of several sub-committees including Future Development, Poker Machine, Disciplinary, House and Building as well as being a past committee member of the Sports Women’s Bowling Club.
“In essence, Claire takes her directorship very seriously, always discharging her duties with the utmost faith, integrity, care and diligence for the ultimate benefit of both Club Forster and Sporties Tuncurry”.
Claire is certainly no stranger to the NSW Club Industry.
Her late husband Rev was held in high distinction throughout ‘club land’ and served as the general manager of Forster Tuncurry Memorial Services Club for 10 years before being elected to the board and serving as a director for six years and vice-president for two years.
Previously, Rev had also served as a general/secretary manager of various clubs in Sydney for many years.
Claire has certainly continued to uphold Rev’s legacy with a pride and confidence that shows in her daily connection with her fellow members, staff, management and the board of directors.
