The project, expected to be completed before the end of the financial year, will be undertaken in two stages between Lee and Richmond streets.
From late November contractors will assist with Telstra relocation works, during which time Crawford Street will be closed at the Lee Street end.
Access will be maintained for residents via Richmond Street.
Stage one also will include the installation of a box culvert along the eastern side of the street, improving drainage by diverting stormwater into existing streams on the western side.
Subject to completion of the Telstra relocation works and with weather permitting, stage one is due for completion late-January 2019.
“These works form part of a series of improvement works for the Bulahdelah area that are scheduled for completion this financial year,” MidCoast Council projects and engineering manager, Rhett Pattison said.
“Following the installation of the culvert, stage two of the project will target safety and durability through a full reconstruction along Crawford Street.”
During stage one, locals are reminded to observe all road works signage and direction from crews, and to travel with caution in and around the area. It is expected that driveway access will be maintained at all times.
“Further information will be provided to the local community as the schedule for stage two is confirmed,” Mr Pattison said.
