In the early hours of this morning, Thursday, November 15, a vehicle was stopped at the Four Mile rest area, south of Taree, for a random breath test.
Following a search of the vehicle officers allegedly uncovered 72 caps of MDMA, a quantity of methylamphetamine, a flip knife and an extendable baton.
Two men, aged 27 and 28, were arrested and taken to Taree Police Station where they were charged with a number of offences.
The men appeared before Forster Local Court.
Manning Great Lakes Police Police District Commander Superintendent Shane Cribb said officers would continue to target motorists who broke the law.
Operation Manning was a 48 hour traffic operation between November 13 and 15 that targeted drink and drug drivers as well as defects on heavy vehicles.
