Work to restore this unique memorial to its former glory begins this Monday, November 5, in time for this year’s centenary of Remembrance Day the following Sunday, November 11.
Scaffolding was erected at the start of this week for the detailed restoration works to begin.
This first stage focuses on the top section of the monument.
The Nabiac Park War Memorial has been an important part of the Nabiac community for many years.

The cracked concrete sections will be restored and the shaft and the swords cleaned, before a high temperature wax will be applied and polished for ongoing protection against the elements.
These works would not be possible without the assistance of the NSW Government through the Community War Memorials Fund.
This fund has allowed MidCoast Council to engage expert stone masons to undertake the delicate restoration and ensure the war memorial will be around for future generations.
“The Nabiac Park War Memorial has been an important part of the Nabiac community for many years,” MidCoast Council community spaces, recreation and trades manager, Dan Aldridge said.
“It’s great to see this monument being given a new lease on life and we hope this will ensure it is a part of the community for many years to come,” Mr Aldridge said.
Once this first stage of the process is complete, council will seek funding for the second stage which will see the lead lettering repaired, marble panels cleaned and any other issues around the base addressed.
