The Victorian Australian of the Year, who goes on to the represent the state at a national level in January, is to be revealed on Tuesday.
Autism advocate and visionary Chris Varney, medicine developer Mark Sullivan, and rare disease supporter and fundraiser Hollie Feller are among the finalists.
Melbourne couple Ian and Simone Carson have also made the cut as founders of SecondBite, a not-for-profit outfit which sends surplus fresh produce to community food programs to be used to make meals for people in need.
Governor of Victoria Linda Dessau will name the winner on Tuesday night.
Winners will also be named in senior, young and local hero categories.
