The mental health of students is a key focus at Forster Public School, now more than ever with the introduction of a new ‘KidsMatter’ initiative.
KidsMatter is a framework designed to support primary schools in promoting a positive school community through creating strong partnerships with the community.
It also works to deepen the understanding of mental wellness and mental health within the school and community, linking in with agencies to provide high quality support for students and families.

The well being team from Forster Public School launched this program by hosting a KidsMatter community breakfast recently.
Close to 250 students and family members were treated to a breakfast of bacon and egg rolls with sweet and savory pastries, cereal and coffee, for a gold coin donation.
After breakfast, K-6 classes participated in a variety of activities that help to build resilience and mental wellness by keeping students fit, engaged, healthy and mentally well.
Activities included yoga, just dance, OOSH soccer, tug-a-war, boomerang throwing, fitness, art and sporting skill development.
These activities were heavily supported by Forster OOSH, Forster Yoga Studio, Homebase and the Forster school community.
There were also a dozen local businesses who donated generously and made the breakfast possible.
