Sixty-five schools from across the State took part in the event, but that didn’t stop the Great Lakes team from returning home with seven gold, eight silver and seven bronze medals.
Fay made a presentation at Great Lakes College Forster campus on Thursday (Spetember 20) to a number of the students who received medals.
“We had lots of black belts who only graded this year and have had outstanding performances,” Fay said.
“It was a high standard of competition where all students did extremely well.
“Standout fighters were Adam Koutts, Jai Freyler, Crystal Kotts and Jacey Hewitt, all claiming black belt wins.
“At this level that was a thrilling result.”
Dylan Koutts And Blake Wearne assisted in coaching the junior students and Adam Nathan and Dylan Koutts, along with Ian Wearne assisted in corner judging.
“The competition was run at a hectic pace, with three mats running all day,” Fay added.
“I am very pleased with the Forster students who have turned their hard training into medals.
“Thanks to the volunteers who attended and helped padding up players.”
