The best junior sides on the Mid North Coast came together last weekend to determine the junior zone championships. The matches were played at Tuncurry’s Harry Ellioot Oval in conjunction with the first and reserve grade grand finals.
Hallidays Point Barracudas kicked off the weekend with a 2-1 win over Western Pheonix to win the under 12s title.
Port United cruised to a 4-0 win over Cundletown Jets in the under 13s decider. United picked up their second win in the under 14s final with a 1-0 win against Great Lakes Vikings.
In the under 15s, Wauchope bested Wingham Wanderers 1-0. Port Saints Sharks claimed the under 16s title against Tuncurry Forster Black 13-12 in a penalty shootout.
The match finished 1-1 in regular time. Tuncurry Forster Black edged out Camden Haven in a penalty shootout to win the under 18s title.
The sides finished regular time 1-1 before Black got up 5-4 in the shootout.
The zone awards night will be held on Saturday, September 22 at Laurieton United Services Club.
Awards will be presented to the year’s best referee, coach, club, volunteer and administrator.
Meanwhile, Tuncurry Forster Tigers took out the men's over 35s southern championship with a 1-0 win against Pacific Palms Panthers.
The sides finished second and third on the competition ladder respectively and both made the grand final by toppling undefeated premiers Great Lakes Raiders.
