But, it is bringing much joy to multitudes of people every day.
Tuncurrys Street Library is packed from top to bottom with a variety of books ranging from fiction to non-fiction, childrens and teenagers titles.
Once a disused fridge, it has been brought to life with a bold lick of yellow paint and a fit-out to accommodate the vast array of volumes.
The 24-hour, seven day a week library proudly sits in the front garden of the Uniting Church building alongside a conveniently placed bench.

We have put a bench beside the library so you can sit and browse before taking a book, architect and Uniting Church in Australia, Tuncurry pastor, Geoff Battle said.
We try to cover everything, Geoff said.
He said the Street Library had become a great conversation starter, and an important component of the community since it was established earlier this year.
Reading and libraries are exceptionally important, and there is a great need for both in the community.
He said reading a physical book was much more exciting than picking up a kindle or e-books.
Librarian, Christine Hunt weekly sorts through the collection of books, swapping and updating what is available for the reader.
The collection has rapidly grown to more than 400 titles.
Plans were already underway to establish a second Street Library in Tuncurry, adding jigsaw puzzles and games to the collection.
The Australian Street Library, which has more than 800 outlets housed in a multitude of purpose-build garden huts down to phone boxes, recycled fridges and re-purposed letterboxes and bookcases, is based on the American Little Free Library model introduced in 2009.
The first Street Library came to Australia in November 2015 when Nic Lowe established an outlet in Sydney and has rapidly expanded across the country ever since.
The miniature library was designed along the lines of the traditional honesty box system where anyone can visit the borrow, swap or even donate a preloved book.
The Great Lakes is home to a Street Library in both Stroud and Bulahdelah.
