“We’re starting on Monday (August 20) and this will culminate in the market day on Saturday, August 25 at Nabiac Showground, where we always have a stall,’’ op shop spokeswoman Vanessa Hawkins explained.
The op shop is currently taking donations of goods that can be sold. Vanessa said 100 per cent of the takings will be going to drought relief.
She said the proceeds will go to the appeal set up by the Hallidays Point Lions Club.
“We’ve raised funds for a number of causes in Nabiac over the years, including the pool,’’ Vanessa added.
However, she said the plight of farmers battling the crippling drought has resonated in the village.
“We decided it was time to go further afield and help our farmers,’’ Vanessa said.
She added any sale-able goods will be accepted. The op shop is in Nabiac Street and is open six mornings a week, from 9am to noon. A total of 35 volunteers run the not-for-profit enterprise.
The NSW government last week declared that 100 per cent of the State is now in drought, with one quarter classified as being in intense drought.
