More on the Great Lakes drought relief effort:
Community liason officer, Karen Newcombe said 100 per cent of the proceeds from the day will go straight to Buy a Bale to help farmers who are impacted by the drought.
“Entries close on Monday, August 27 at 5pm, and there are about 250 spots, so put a team together and sign up for a great cause,” Karen said.
“This will be a day for families and the community, with no bowling experience needed to join in.
“The event price is $12 a head, and every bit of it will go to Buy a Bale.”
The Bowls for Bales day has been organised in addition to a number of fundraising activities the club has undertaken in the past week.
“We started our fundraising at the start of August, and by Monday, August 6, had raised $1,300 for Buy a Bale,” Karen said.
“There has also been so much food, pet food and other products like clothes and toiletries donated, the community has really gotten involved.”
Forster Bowling Club Group is also donating a two night holiday for a farming family to be chosen by the Buy a Bale organisation.
“The accommodation is at Forster Palms Motel, with meals included, and a number of family friendly activities included free, all worth more than $1000,” Karen added.
“We have a food drop at the club, with non-perishables foods, pet food, cosmetics and clothes very welcome.
“We welcome any help from other local businesses for Buy a Bale to help our farmers out.”
