
Forsters swimmers achieved some great results at the Country Championships, held at Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Centre on July 7-8.
This year’s entries from Swimming North Coast were the highest we have had in many years. More clubs involved and young swimmers swimming in only one event. This allows new swimmers exposure to the higher level of swimming.
Of the Swimming North Coast competitors, eight competed in the Australian Age Championships in Sydney earlier this year.
Twenty-Five medals were won and 77 top ten placings.
Harrison Tancred claimed gold in the 100m breaststroke and bronze in the 100m freestyle, as well as four top 10 finishes.
Nash Wilkes snapped up silver in 50m breaststroke and 100m breaststroke, and had two top 10 finishes.
Dane Jeffery took bronze in the 200m freestyle, 100m breaststroke and 100m freestyle, and also a massive six top ten places.
Claire Van Kampen claimed third in the 100m backstroke alongside five top 10 finishes and Jesse Wilkes took third in the 100m freestyle , with top 10 finishes.
Connor Anderson placed 48th in 50m freestyle and 20th in 100m breaststroke, while Hannah Carmichael took 11th in 50m freestyle, 12th in 100m backstroke and 23rd in 100m freestyle.
Other placings included Ethan Hudson’s 15th in 100m breaststroke, 30th for Eva Keen in 50m back stroke and 31st in 50m fly.
Claire Van Kampen came 26th in 50m freestyle and 21st in 100m freestyle, Jesse Wilkes took 14th in 100. IM and Nash Wilkes took 14th in 50m freestyle.
The event was attended by swimmers from all over the state with the exception of the Sydney Metropolitan Area.
