The event will start at 10am, with a guest speech from Geoff Gray, a retired Australian trade official and diplomat.
The topic Geoff will speak on is "challenges and joys of promoting Australia to the world".
Geoff grew up in Melbourne, and after leaving school studied commerce at Melbourne University.
After graduating, Geoff worked with BHP, which sent him on an exchange to Atlanta, Georgia.
He returned to Wollongong, left BHP and moved to Canberra in 1871 to start his diplomatic career.
His career included forty years of service as an Australian trade official and diplomat, working in many different locations around the world.
His assignments included diverse locations such as Iraq, Japan, The Netherlands, Germany, Singapore, Malaysia, Papua New Guinea and five assignments in the USA.
Geoff's last five years of Australian Government service were in Washington DC after three years in New York city and three years as Consul-General in Atlanta
Geoff returned to Sydney in 2007.
He took up the appointment as the first Australian Executive Director of the American Australian Association and worked on the establishment of the United States Study Centre at Sydney University .
From 2014-2015 Geoff was the national business manager at the Australian Water Association which had a focus on developing water projects in Asia.
He is enjoying his retirement with days spent in the garden, travelling to family and friends in Florida and for the past five years has been a regular lecturer on cruises in Asia Pacific region.
