Renovation work on the playground on Old Coach Road at Limeburners Creek will begin later this week with the removal of worn play equipment.
Located behind the Rural Fire Brigade and adjacent to the town cricket pitch, the playground will be re-orientated as part of an upgrade to improve the functionality of the popular recreational space.
Existing equipment will be replaced with contemporary stainless steel units that include an all-age swing set and climbing frames.
“We’re progressively upgrading playgrounds across the region, focusing on modern facilities that are customised and offer durability specific to their location”, MidCoast Council community spaces, recreation and trades manager, Dan Aldridge said.
“We’re often asked about fencing and shade for playgrounds, factors which are considered relative to where the playground is situated and whether natural shade is available,” Mr Aldridge said.
Based on a review of the Limeburners Creek playground, fencing and artificial shade do not form part of the current upgrade.
Removal of the existing equipment in the Limeburners Creek playground will take later this week with construction of the new playground footprint continuing through to early July.
“We have scheduled installation of the new play structures to take place mid-July,” Mr Aldridge said.
Locals are asked to stay out of the playground area while the works are being undertaken.
