Tournament director, Fay Shacklock was tickled pink to bring in some of her ninja nannies to show their skill.
“Watching grandmothers and great grandmothers get up there and have a go is just beautiful,” Fay said.
“The focus of the competition changes every year.
“Everyone loves looking after our seniors, it’s so inspiring to watch them get involved.
Now in its 12th year, the event included a senior category, for the first time ever, with entrants as old as 81 getting involved.
“We had five seniors, which was just great. What other sporting event can you have competitors from five to 81 competing in the same day?” Fay continued.
“All up there were 130 competitors on the day, everyone had a great time and it was, again, just a really good event.”
In yet another first for the 2018 event. there was a demonstration of a power break, put on by 18 year old Dylan Koutts.
“He broke three one inch boards, it was great to have that aspect involved,” Faye added.
“Each year we get a diverse range of competitors, it keeps on expanding.”
