Connecting and caring for country was the take-home message from Project Green Sea Turtle, presented by Take 3 For the Sea to hundreds primary school students.
Earlier this week, May 29, students from nine primary schools throughout the Manning and Great Lakes converged on Forster’s Main for lessons on the environment and the repercussions of pollution.
This subject included the impacts of plastic pollution, campaign techniques, leadership skills and to gain a greater understanding of the significance of connecting to land and sea.
The day was very well received by both students and their teachers, Take 3 For the Sea co-founder and education manager, Amanda Marechal said.
“Connecting with and caring for the environment was an important part of the day,” she said.
Students also were told about the impacts single use plastic bags have on the environment.
“We looked at those impacts and the importance of stopping pollution at its source.”
The group had a simple message for everyone: “Take three pieces of rubbish with you when you leave the beach, waterway or anywhere and you've made a difference.”
