Back in the mid 90s John Amato was a frustrated mechanic working on garbage trucks.
He had more than 20 years experience of all types of mechanicl repairs and a strong desire to get away from the dirty trucks and make better use of his skills.
With his wife Jan by his side the couple started John Amato Auto Repairs in Kularoo Drive Forster and kept fingers crossed they could make a go of their own business.
Fortunately John was a well known, “true blue local,” and word soon spread.
Friends started bringing their cars in for repairs and services and after a few flyer drops others started coming too.
Once everyone realised what a good job John could do they started recommending him to their friends.
Now the business boasts a loyal customer base that has spanned two decades in the Great Lakes region and John is servicing the cars of the next generation.
“Some of our customers have become very close friends,” said Jan.
