St Clare’s High School, Taree invites visitors from the Manning/Great Lakes area to attend their open afternoon on May 30, from 4pm to 5.30pm.
St Clare’s open afternoon will provide visitors with the opportunity to learn how the school is working to give students a solid foundation for their future.
With teamwork, collaboration and critical thinking shaping education at St Clare’s, students come to understand how to deal with this changing economic and social landscapes, while continuing to grow as thoughtful, happy and productive members of the community.
The co-educational high school caters for students from Years 7 to 12 and the open afternoon will give visitors a chance to meet the school’s staff and student body and gain an insight into the excellent academic and pastoral wellbeing programs run at St Clare’s.

St Clare’s has a strong commitment to social justice, a focus on literacy intervention in their Learning Support Department and opportunities for students to explore and develop their individual talents within the creative arts and sporting teams.
A student-led experience
As a part of the open afternoon, visitors will be given a student-guided tour through the school campus and have the chance to view St Clare’s classroom and sporting facilities, which are currently undergoing an extension.
St Clare’s students will be leading a discussion panel and inviting visitors to ask any questions they may have about all aspects of the school.
Go along and learn more about the school’s Japanese Exchange Program. Working in partnership with Kobe Kaisei High School, the program gives students the opportunity to welcome a student from Kobe Kaisei into their family, visit sites of cultural and historical significance and immerse themselves in the daily life of Japan.
There will be a series of engaging activities and demonstrations throughout the afternoon, based around the school’s key learning areas including Music, Science, PDHPE, Art, Drama and iSTEM (Invigorating Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics).
Visitors will also get the chance to learn more about the school’s innovative CLARE (Connect, Learn, Aspire, Respect, Engage) positive education framework. This program teaches students self-worth, resilience and communication skills that allow them to grow and thrive as individuals and meet the challenges of life in a confident and happy manner.
The event will conclude with light finger food prepared and served by students from St Clare’s senior hospitality class.
