The best regional art works from 2017 HSC students, including one from the Great Lakes, are not to be missed when Artexpress returns to the Manning Regional Art Gallery on Friday May 18.
A chance to view the highest achieving works submitted by 2017 HSC visual arts students, Artexpress 2018 is a series of 10 individually-curated exhibitions held throughout the year and hosted across metropolitan and regional NSW galleries and art centres.
In 2017/2018, 174 works have been chosen by curators for the 10 exhibitions.
Among the artworks featured is that of Great Lakes Senior College student, Petra Flower.
Petra’s body of work explores a teenager’s view of adulthood as they face decisions that will shape their future.
“The overarching concepts investigated in my body of work are the opportunities and uncertainties of the future,” she said.
“The future includes new beginnings and directions, as well as personal growth and the emotions that follow.”
Works range from painting, photomedia, drawing, printmaking, sculpture, graphic design and documented forms to textiles and fibre, ceramics, time-based forms and collections of works.
Artexpress is a joint partnership of the NSW Education Standards Authority and the NSW Department of Education.
The Artexpress Patron is The Dobell Foundation and the Artexpress associative sponsor is S & S Wholesale.
Artexpress also includes a registered professional learning workshop for teachers and student art making workshops, for further information please contact the gallery.
The exhibition opens on Friday May 18, with a launch at 2pm on Saturday May 19. Entry is free to the opening and everyone is welcome. The exhibition continues until Sunday June 24.
