MidCoast Libraries will welcome a return visit by North Coast author Kim Hodges in May as she launches her second book, Girl over the Edge at Taree, Forster and Tea Gardens.
Kim Hodges will visit Taree library on Thursday, May 3 at 1pm, and then Forster at 10am and Tea Gardens at 2pm on Friday, May 4.
This will be an opportunity to hear firsthand from someone who has experienced deep depression and battled to overcome bipolar disorder.
Girl over the Edge is Kim's raw memoir, detailing her lived experience of mental illness over five years, taking the reader into severe episodes of depression, on the road to recovery and everything else in between.
Kim visited Taree library in 2016 when her first book Girl on the Edge was released, and says her new book "captures the denial, stigma and shame I have in my own mind about mental illness; the debilitating physical and mental agony of the illness; engagements with health professionals, and facing my own mortality".
There is no charge to attend but spaces are limited. Book online at www.midcoastlibraries.com.au.
