Forster parkrun has needed a defibrillator since it first started in November 2016.
This regular community 5km event attracts around 120 runners and walkers every week from around Australia and overseas and safety is of major importance.
Last weekend it finally happened when Tuncurry Forster Rotary Club came to the rescue and generously provided the funds, in conjunction with parkrun Australia, to purchase a much needed Defibrillator.
Rotary president, Ian Croker and director, Phil Sutcliffe officially presented the new defibrillator to the parkrun crew in front of a very appreciative crowd.
Forster parkrun is very thankful to Ian and Phil for their support.
Each week locals and visitors enjoy this social 5km event right next to the ocean in a beautiful park setting, now with the confidence of knowing there is a defibrillator available at all times as part of the safety equipment.
Forster numbers are starting to peak at more than 200 during holiday times following the growing popularity trend of parkruns world-wide.
Forster parkrun is a free timed 5km walk or run held every Saturday at the Pebbly Beach playground off Head Street in Forster.
It’s great fun and a fantastic way to keep fit.

Forster parkrun is very fortunate to have many regular volunteers to keep it going.
New volunteers are always welcome.
