Referring to your article last week, What’s the point of a roundabout, I believe there is a simple solution at the intersection just off the Forster Tuncurry bridge at Manning Street and Point Road and that is that it is a left hand turn only from Point Road.

Drivers coming off the bridge or from Manning Street can still have access to Point Road but coming out of Point Road would only be a left turn.
Drivers would soon learn to travel up to the traffic lights at South Street either through Bent Street or Peel Street to get back onto the bridge.
If a roundabout was absolutely necessary it would be better placed at Kent Street and still having a left hand turn only at Point Road.
This would reduce possible accidents and hopefully reduce blocked up bridge traffic going both ways.
