Merger decisions continue to shape the new MidCoast Water management structure as MidCoast Council works to fill top positions.
The controversial decision to dissolve MidCoast Water and merge its functions with MidCoast Council initiated a shake-up of staff positions. MidCoast Water staff were told they would be provided with the same three year employment protection applied to MidCoast Council employees following its merger process.
Looking to the future MidCoast Council acted to merge two previous MidCoast Water management positions to create the role of ‘Manager Planning and Assets in Water Services’ and advertised it in November 2017.
It caught the eye of Kempsey Shire Council director Robert Scott and on January 29 he fronted the office in Muldoon Street, Taree for his first day in the job.
Mr Scott’s credentials include a Bachelor of Engineering (civil), second class honours and a Master of Environmental Engineering Management degree.
He was appointed as director at Kempsey Shire Council in July 2010 and had previously worked for the council in 1999-2000 as a design engineer.
He also has more than 19 years experience in local government, including roles with Gosford City, Hornsby Shire and Port Macquarie-Hastings councils and also worked for the NSW State Rail Authority, and has also been a member of the the Institute of Public Works Engineers and Australian Water Association and Engineers Australia.
