What is going on in Pacific Palms with holiday lettings?
We have been going to Boomerang Beach for holidays for 15 years, not just at peak times.
Suddenly this year all the holiday letting prices have doubled.
Units on the beach used to be $450 a week, now the same unit is $1016.
It's always more during January but I'm talking about outside school holidays.
That's a 100 per cent plus increase.
It's fair to increase rates but that much?
We didn't come this year because our usual house has gone up to almost double making it the same cost as a trip for two to Bali.
Very little is booked outside January and Easter and this can't be good for local businesses.
When I rang the agent to say the increase was too high, he said that he had had this conversation with quite a few regulars.
Pacific Palms, if you want your economy to thrive, please think about realistic holiday rates.
There is plenty of competition in other places.
