Students from Years 4, 5 and 6, are busily rehearsing their number for the Schools’ Spectacular, which will be held at Qudos Bank Arena, Sydney Olympic Park on November 24-25.
Staff member Laura Chapple said students were really enjoying the experience.
“This is only the second year that regional schools have had a segment in the show,” she said.
“Previously, regional schools have had minor roles, like standing to the side and waving flags, and so this is the second year that they’ve actually gotten to dance.
“It’s great to see them accommodating our country schools. The students enjoy it so much and once they get down to Sydney and are participating in this huge venue with thousands of other students, it’s just a great experience.”
The theme of the show this year is ‘own the memory’, and the students segment is ‘remember the Beetles.
“We’re doing Sargent Pepper, so we are military style,” Laura said.
“So far, we’ve been marching for half an hour. No one really knows what’s going on yet, but it’s fun!”
Schools Spectacular is a showcase of the talent in NSW public schools.
The event engages and showcases students of varying ages, cultures, skills and socio-economic backgrounds; from metropolitan, rural and remote regions of NSW.
