Parents, grandparents and friends were invited to attend this special day.
The day began with a parent workshop on Targeted Early Numeracy (TEN) highlighting how parents can support their children at home with numeracy using card games, dominoes and dice.
It also showcased how teachers are using these games in the early years to support the development of skills in addition and subtraction with their students.
Parents visited classrooms and had an opportunity to view children’s work and participate in a range of fun and engaging maths activities.
At our whole school assembly, we heard performances by the school choir and percussion group, were entertained by a group of Year 2/3 students performing the play, Rose Meets Mr Wintergarten and we listened to a wonderful rendition of Happy Birthday that incorporated sign language by a group of Year 1 students.
Education Week awards were presented to two children from each class to recognise their commitment to learning.
We finished the day with a magical photo shoot.
A whole school photo, taken by an aerial drone (https://www.facebook.com/RPASaustralia/) beautifully captured our great school and the surrounding area.
We topped off the day by singing Happy Birthday, cutting a giant cake and sharing the cake among our 320 children.
It was certainly a day that will be remembered by all for many years to come.
