In the event planned burns cannot proceed on the specified dates, these will be rescheduled if weather conditions permit.
The hazard reduction burns are designed to reduce the risk of damaging fires and the potential loss of life and/or property.
Council director Matt Rogers said all hazard reduction burns were being undertaken as part of plans developed in conjunction with the RFS, F&R NSW and the Bush Fire Management Committee.
“The burns will help significantly reduce the level of ground fuel and hence the potential for extreme bushfire events,” Mr Rogers said.
“There is only a small window of opportunity each year to carry out hazard reduction burns and prolonged wet or dry weather could prevent them from taking place.”
Members of the public are asked to exercise caution in the vicinity of all planned hazard reduction burns. Traffic management will be implemented as required.
Information on the specific locations and dates of burns will be provided to the community as it is confirmed.
