Port led 20-0 at the break, and though there was significant second half improvement, the damage had already been inflicted.
Beau Lowry, playing in the left centre position, scored the Hawks’ one try for the day.
One highlight was the introduction into first grade for 16-year-old Harrison Edwards who looks to have a bright future ahead of him beyond the realms of group football.
The Hawks will have next weekend off before travelling to Wingham on Sunday, June 18 to face the Wingham Tigers.
In other first grade games in Group 3, the local derby between Taree City and Old bar finished in a 25 all draw, Port City Breakers 48 accounted for Wingham 24, while Macleay Valley was too strong for Wauchope, winning 26-12
The Hawks reserve grade side battled hard but were beaten 52-10, with the bare minimum 13 players making themselves available.
The reserve grade Hawks would like to applaud the under 18s players who showed a bit of club pride and backed up after their hard fought win.
After showing great pride in their goal line defence and repelling wave after wave of Port Sharks attack, the under 18s Hawks came away with an excellent 22-6 win.
Tries to Harrison Edwards (2) Nathan Monk and Jeremy Jones along with Jake Curnow’s three goals from four attempts rounded out the scoring for the Hawks who sit comfortably inside the top five at the season’s halfway point.
Nathan Monk was strong in both attack and defence while Max Elliott, who featured in all three grades on Saturday produced his usual high work rate game.
The ladies league tag side continued on their winning way, accounting for the Sharks to the tune of 16-0. 2 tries to Lisa Bullivant and a four pointer to Danielle Kirkland along with two conversions to Talara Morris was enough to bring the two points back to Forster-Tuncurry.
The young Hawks side is running second in the competition table mid-way through the season, trailing the Port City Breakers by four points.
