Chief Inspector Allan Fidock said criminal behaviour is occurring “more than usual”, particularly in Little Street, Helen Street and MacIntosh Street.
Properties in Breckenridge Street, Stanley Street, Kenrose Street and Goldens Road have also been targeted.
Thieves have been gaining entry to these properties by cutting fly screens and smashing windows.
Police note a Kenrose Street ground-floor unit was broken into on Friday night where a sum of cash and four World War II Medals were stolen out of a safe.
Chief Inspector Fidock insists securing windows and doors, installing locks, being mindful of what is shared on social media and assisting the elderly with crime prevention measures will increase the difficulty of thieves gaining entry to a home or business.
Residents are urged to record details of suspicious people and vehicles such as physical descriptions or registration numbers and report to Forster Police on 6555 1299 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
People are also being reminded not to report crime information via social media.
