That was the firm assurance given by MidCoast Council community spaces, recreation and trade manager, Daniel Aldridge.
Mr Aldridge was responding to a number of rumours claiming the pool had been earmarked for closure and converted into a water park.
“At the moment we are reviewing all service levels at all pools in the local government area,” Mr Aldridge said.
In other words, we are looking at services provided to the community, he said.
He said if council did plan to close any swimming pool in the future the community would be consulted.
“Nothing will be done in a covert way.”
“But at this time there are no plans to close Tuncurry pool.”
This is good news for Tuncurry resident and regular pool user, John Mood.
“My wife is overcoming back surgery and has been advised by the doctor to walk in water to regenerate back nerves and leg muscles,” he said.
“There have been rumours that MidCoast Council is considering new plans for the pool area.
“It would be a tragedy for the pool users, seniors and children if the pool was removed.”
Mr Mood congratulated council on its maintenance of the pool.
