This event is set to feature competitions, give-aways and raffles with prizes including two tickets to the State of Origin clash in Sydney on June 21.
Many rugby league identities are set to attend such as Michael Hagan, Paul Langmack, Mick Adams, Ben Ross, Dennis Tutty, Ziggy Niszczot, Harry Wells and John Elford.
They will be presented to the race day crowd by sports journalist Dean Ritchie.
Men of League Mid North Coast president Brian Atherton said money raised from the event would contribute to ongoing support to families in the Mid North Coast region.
“It is not just the past players who we are able to support but families who are battling as well,” Brian said.
The Tuncurry Forster Jockey Club will conduct a six race program on the day.
Standout races include the Twin Towns Toyota Maiden Plate over 1400 metres and the Hawkesbury Race Club and Motel Maiden Plate over 1200 metres.
Racing gets underway from about 1.30pm.
The Men of League Foundation was established in 2002 by former rugby league players Jim Hall, Max Brown and current chairman Ron Coote AM.
The concept for the foundation came about when Ron saw former Dragons’ captain Doug McRitchie lying alone in a hospital bed, suffering from the later stages of prostate cancer.
Ron questioned why some of his former team-mates were not present with him or if they knew of his illness.
This inspired Ron, Jim and Max to create the foundation to provide ongoing support for anyone who has been involved with rugby league.
Medical operations, rehabilitation equipment, nursing home equipment, scholarship assistance, grants, social events and fundraising is all part of the Men of League vision.
The foundation currently boasts more than 26,000 members.
