Kay started with RDA in May of 2016 after moving to the area around two years before.
“I was keen to explore my new home and get involved with local community groups,” she said.
“I had heard about RDA and respect what the organisation does, so thought I would go out on a limb and see how and if, I could help.”
Kay said, from day one she leading horses “with precious kids on board”.
“The young volunteers have been my teachers and shown me so much about horse management,” she said.
“I am meeting and learning to work with and encourage our special riders. I have also become involved with fund raising activities and pretty much anything that requires an extra pair of hands even washing up dishes after our Saturday lunches.”
Kay said before this she’d never worked with children or horses.
“To see the kids grow so much and gain confidence in the short time I have been involved is something to treasure,” Kay said.
“Getting to know and respect the horses and see how they give so much to their riders is very worthwhile.”
Kay said there are so many areas to help within the RDA.
“I have met some great people in the RDA and respect everyone for the amazing contribution they make,” she said.
