Forster will kick things off with a BBQ Breakfast on Main Beach at 7.30am, thanks to the Rotary Club of Tuncurry/Forster, followed by the flag raising ceremony at Pilot Hill. Cost is $10 per person. Call 6554 7256 for more information.
From 11am to 2pm Club Forster is holding its Family Fun Day, which includes entertainment by The Coads, with free attractions such as a sample bags for the kids, sausage sizzle, face painting, fairy floss, jumping castle, family games and competitions. Call 6591 6591 for more information.
The Great Lakes Australia Day Awards Ceremony will take place at the club at 11am with a free morning tea.
In Tuncurry, Sporties will host an ‘Aussie Music’ session from 4pm with a free sausage sizzle.
At Hallidays Point, at 7am celebrations commence on Black Head Beach with a free sausage sizzle courtesy of the local Lions Club. The flag raising will take place at 7.45am, with addresses by local Australia Day Ambassador James Turner and the presentation of Lions Club Citizen of the Year award.
On the relaxing Coomba foreshore from 9am is Coomba Fest, with an Australia Day breakfast followed by face painting, a chocolate wheel, guessing competitions, lucky dips and Australian music until 1pm. The Australia Day Ceremony will be held at 10am, followed by Family Picnic Races, a kids waterslide, a raft race, presentations, and pool challenge. Refreshments available to purchase onsite. The Great Lakes Winery at Wootton from 1pm will host some live music accompanied by local wine. Bring a picnic and a rug and get comfy on the lawn. Call 4997 7255 for more information.
In Bulahdelah at the Court House a memorial to Betty Bramble will be presented by the local historical society at 5.30pm. A BBQ will be available from 6.30pm, folllowed by some light entertainment and short local films between 7.30 to 9.30pm.
At Hawks Nest on Moira Parade from 8am to 12pm is the local Lions Club’s Aussie Day Breakfast, with face painting and games including egg and spoon races, live music, and the Junior and Senior Citizen of the Year presentation.
