Council’s wishful thinking

Ratepayers can like it or lump it.
Firstly, over the last few years numerous councils have applied for such an increase, and the have all been refused by the State Government, so I think our council are just indulging in wishful thinking.
Secondly if the Council has already made up its mind, why did it send out expensive brochures to all residents about this matter, followed by a phone opinion poll by a professional polling company asking a string of loaded questions ?
How much ratepayers’ money did this waste ?
